On the back of The Jerusalem EP's, Glenn Underground writes: "Check it some wisdom, let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)." It's clear the Chicago producer answers to a higher calling, and his work heavily reflects this conviction. Glenn Underground released this 8-tracker in 1997 on Peacefrog Records, and his Chi-Town roots inform the production, from the city's classic dance sounds to it's soul, funk, jazz, & disco heritage. But, he crafts more than just phenomenal grooves, rhythms, and atmospheres; there is something spiritual looming throughout, and that is the very ingredient that elevates this EP (and other great house music, imho) to new heights. Listen to "There is a Time," "Negro Cry," and "Keep The Hidden Treasures" to get a sense of the house music excellence happening on the record. You should really listen to the album in it's entirety however, and you'll quickly realize why GU is one of the most respected names creating in the genre.
